The question has been asked, the answer was a resounding ‘YES!’ but before we get to the venue, the dress, the guests and the menu, you have to have your engagement shoot.

Don’t stress, this should be so much fun for you and your forever love, because this kicks off the feel for your upcoming nuptials…so the good news is, it really is all about you two.

Look inward, and consider what makes up the life you two are creating with each other. What are your habits, hobbies and interests? That’s the first stop to help you find your style and this is how to incorporate it into your photographs seamlessly.

Keep reading below, for tips on how to find your engagement style.

  1. Think about your respective and shared hobbies and passions. Do you both love or play music? Or is cooking every night something that you love to do together? Whatever the activity is, this is something to consider showcasing in your engagement session.

  2. Consider your professions. Firefighter, scientist, farmer, chef, teacher, geologist…whatever the case, consider incorporating your professional lives into your photographs, especially  if you love what you do. It could be a simple as adding a chalkboard, a lab coat or a chef’s hat!
  3. What’s your favorite sports team? If you all love sports and cheer for the same (or even opposing!) teams, it’s time to show that team spirit. Photos with jerseys, sports equipment or incorporating a sports venue is a great idea.
  4. Where do you feel most in your element? Are you an outdoorsy couple, or a pair of homebodies? Maybe you love to check out the new exhibits at art museums or galleries. If you are in a space that you love, that comfort and love will show through your photos.
  5. Show that personality! Engagement photos don’t have to be a stuffy affair. Bring out the board games, or take a trip to the circus or have a picnic in the park and share a laugh.

I hope these tips help you and your fiancé as you all plan your engagement photoshoot. And to add to the inspiration, take a look at Kiki and Joe’s engagement session. Fashionable, chic, classic, full of love and a lot of fun.
